Data and Development Engineer
Job Description
Salary: £27,000 - 61,000 per year
Requirements:- We need someone able to work with stakeholders to understand different areas of the business and capture requirements in a structured way.
- We need someone able to translate business requirements into technical requirements to inform solution design.
- We need someone competent in creating high-level design documents and low-level technical designs.
- We need a strong understanding of database architecture and the fundamentals of database management and data modelling.
- We need a good understanding of base structures and languages such as T-SQL, DAX, M Language, and Python.
- We need strong experience with the Microsoft stack, whether via Azure data services or Microsoft Fabric.
- We need someone able to demonstrate alignment with our values: Excellence, Passion, Integrity, and Collaboration.
- We need excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, including the ability to discuss and simplify technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
- We need excellent organisational skills to manage personal workload and take the lead and responsibility for projects.
- Desirable experience includes Oracle databases and Oracle SQL.
- Desirable experience includes developing reports using Power BI.
- Desirable experience includes using Git to manage version control.
- Desirable experience includes working to Agile methodology, including Kanban or sprint approaches.
- We work across the full data lifecycle, from connecting to data at source through ETL, data platform management, integrations, master data management, reporting, analytics, and AI.
- We work with APIs and other transfer mechanisms to establish data feeds from internal and external sources.
- We design and implement efficient data pipelines to pass data into our data platform.
- We design and implement database architecture for staging and storing data.
- We implement appropriate schemas and follow best practice to ensure data quality, integrity, and security.
- We design and implement ETL pipelines to transform and model data for reporting and analytics.
- We develop interactive dashboards to support self-service data and insight.
- We use models and analytics techniques, including supervised and unsupervised machine learning, to add value to data and support advanced analytics and AI agent development.
- We adopt best practice and champion the standards established by the central team.
- We provide support and guidance to the wider network of data practitioners and users across the business.
- We provide constructive challenge to our ways of working and put forward ideas for improvements and new opportunities.
