Connectivity and Messaging Engineer
Job Description
Salary: £60,000 - 90,000 per year
Requirements:- Deep and solid experience with Java creating scalable, understandable and fully tested code for low-latency, high-throughput applications
- Profound OOA & OOD skills, deep understanding of multi-threading, and general concepts of messaging patterns such as point-to-point, pub/sub, and event-driven architectures
- Experience with the full development life-cycle, including implementation, review, full automated testing, release, and familiarity with related processes and tools such as CI/CD pipelines
- Profound understanding of the FIX protocol and how FIX engines generally work
- Good understanding of IP networks, including TCP/IP, UDP, routing tables, subnets, and BGP
- Experience working with containers such as Docker and Kubernetes is highly advantageous
- A continuous drive to improve a product and its ecosystem, including CI/CD pipelines, automated performance testing, and performance monitoring, while keeping things simple
- Work on ULTRA, our in-house micro-service, fully Kubernetes-deployed connectivity and messaging platform
- Collaborate and interface with practically all other IB teams and most other systems across our IB engineering environment
- Work on new exchange gateway implementations and their ongoing maintenance as exchanges evolve their gateways
- Support a mission-critical system that typically runs 24/7
- Ensure new features and changes to ULTRA are fully tested in an automated manner
