Back End Developer / Data Engineer

Salary: £30,000 - 60,000 per year

Requirements:

• Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL, including advanced use
• C# and .NET experience
• Relational database design and optimisation
• Stored procedures, functions, and complex SQL queries
• Query optimisation, indexing, and database performance tuning
• Web API development and integration
• REST APIs
• Git/source control experience
• Experience developing and supporting production web applications
• Debugging and root-cause analysis skills
• Agile development methodology experience
• Microsoft Azure experience is desirable
• Azure SQL experience is desirable
• Azure DevOps experience is desirable
• CI/CD pipeline experience is desirable
• Database monitoring and observability experience is desirable
• Automated testing experience is desirable
• Experience with high-volume or business-critical transactional systems is desirable
• Experience modernising or refactoring established or legacy applications is desirable
• Experience integrating third-party software through APIs is desirable
• Experience working within a SaaS environment is desirable
• Power BI or other reporting/data visualisation technology experience is desirable
• Cloud database migration experience, ideally Azure SQL managed instances, is desirable

Responsibilities:

• Develop robust and maintainable backend services and application logic using C#
• Develop and maintain web APIs
• Design, develop, and maintain SQL Server databases
• Develop and optimise stored procedures, functions, and queries
• Analyse query and database performance and implement improvements through query optimisation, indexing, and schema refinement
• Ensure changes protect data integrity, reliability, and application performance
• Maintain documentation of important data structures, logic, and dependencies
• Contribute to the ongoing modernisation and improvement of the SaaS platform
