Associate Director, Digital Architect
Job Description
Salary: £95,000 - 130,000 per year
Requirements:- Proven experience in digital and solution architecture with modern digital solutions, cloud platforms, modern integration practices, and microservices architecture patterns.
- Experience designing and architecting next-generation core banking platforms such as Mambu, 10x, Thought Machine, Pismo, or Starling Engine.
- Working knowledge of platform, infrastructure, and data architecture, including cyber security and networking patterns.
- Demonstrated technology delivery experience across the full delivery lifecycle, including discovery, design, delivery, and transition.
- Experience defining architecture principles and solution designs aligned to those principles, common architecture patterns, and practices.
- Strong communication and client management skills, with the ability to explain complex technology concepts in business context.
- Experience leading teams of architects and/or technologists within complex digital transformation programmes.
- Experience delivering through waterfall and agile methodologies.
- Ability to analyse solution options and build consensus among technical and business stakeholders.
- Experience working closely with developers, testers, and other agile roles to shape delivery.
- Preferred: certification or knowledge of a major cloud service provider such as GCP, AWS, or Azure.
- Preferred: experience across banking products, processes, and technology in one or more banking domains.
- Preferred: industry certifications such as BCS, Scrum, SAFe, PMP, or enterprise/solution architecture certifications such as TOGAF or Zachman.
- Lead the design and implementation of modular and composable core banking solutions.
- Define current-state and future-state architecture and identify optimal components for deployment.
- Guide clients through the selection and implementation of next-generation core banking platforms.
- Manage requirements gathering and solution design, including backlog definition, story mapping, user stories, and design documents.
- Work with product owners, solution architects, development teams, and programme managers throughout the agile delivery lifecycle.
- Maintain awareness of emerging technology trends in banking and the core banking ecosystem.
- Understand core banking modules across front, middle, and/or back-office capabilities.
- Act as the point of contact for core banking partners and manage those relationships.
- Oversee programme management efforts and coordinate multiple interconnected workstreams.
- Collaborate with engineering and platform teams on environment setup, configuration, and technical/product support.
- Drive data-informed decisions and process optimisation.
- Mentor and coach junior team members.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships across IT, operations, and risk stakeholders.
- Contribute to business development through pre-sales, bid preparation, and client presentations.
