Mid-Level Java Developer
Job Description
Salary: £69,000 - 109,000 per year
Requirements:- We require 3+ years of experience as a Java developer.
- We require strong knowledge of Java Core, including Collections Framework, Generics, Streams, Lambdas.
- We require knowledge of exception handling and best practices.
- We require experience with multithreading and concurrency, including Executors, synchronization, and CompletableFuture.
- We require knowledge of memory management and garbage collection basics.
- We require understanding of object-oriented principles, SOLID, design patterns, and microservice architecture.
- We require experience with Java and related frameworks such as Spring Boot, Eclipse RCP, OData, Hibernate, JPA, and REST.
- We require backend development experience, including REST APIs with Spring Boot, Swagger/OpenAPI specifications, Spring Security, OAuth2/OIDC, and JWT.
- We require experience with Git-based workflows and GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
- We require experience working in an Agile development environment, such as Scrum or Kanban.
- We require familiarity with SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or other relational databases.
- We require a self-starter attitude, proactive mindset, and the ability to learn new technologies quickly.
- We require an undergraduate degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- We prefer familiarity with GIS connectors.
- We prefer familiarity with Azure DevOps, GitLab, and Git-based workflows.
- We prefer experience with CI/CD pipeline automation and deployment scripting.
- We prefer experience with automated testing, including unit, integration, and regression testing.
- We prefer Eclipse plugin development experience, including SWT, JFace, Eclipse OSGi, extension points, views/editors, and preferences.
- We prefer knowledge of containerization and orchestration, including Docker and Kubernetes.
- We note that minimum qualifications may also be acquired through technical schools or equivalent related experience.
- We design, develop, and maintain desktop and web applications using Java.
- We implement new services, features, and bug fixes as prioritized by the Product Owner.
- We build and integrate APIs to enable seamless communication between services and components.
- We collaborate with product owners, architects, and other developers to define requirements and deliver high-quality solutions.
- We participate actively in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, and retrospectives.
- We write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following industry best practices and internal standards.
- We implement automated tests, including unit, integration, and functional tests, to ensure code quality and reliability.
- We monitor and optimize performance, scalability, and security.
- We apply and enforce security best practices, including secure authentication and authorization flows, encryption for data in transit and at rest, input validation and sanitization, and keeping dependencies and libraries up to date.
- We troubleshoot and resolve issues across development, staging, and production environments.
- We maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging technologies, frameworks, and industry trends relevant to day-to-day development.
- We contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing across teams.
- We communicate and escalate issues clearly and promptly to relevant stakeholders.
