Linux Engineer
Job Description
Salary: £78,000 - 91,000 per year
Requirements:- We are seeking experienced Linux Engineers with a background in server builds, scripting, upgrades and migrations, patching, VMware, and security.
- We require candidates who can provide support, administration, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Linux and Unix systems.
- We require candidates who can ensure the stability, performance, security, and availability of Linux and Unix based systems supporting business-critical applications and services.
- Candidates must be able to obtain security clearance.
- Experience with RHEL 6 to 9, OEL 6 to 7, and SEL 11 is required.
- Familiarity with operating system patching, upgrades, security remediation, monitoring, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and capacity planning is expected.
- We administer, support, and maintain Linux environments.
- We perform system monitoring, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and capacity planning.
- We manage operating system patching, upgrades, and security remediation activities.
- We manage user accounts, permissions, and system access controls in accordance with security policies.
- We investigate and resolve incidents, problems, and service requests within agreed service levels.
- We produce and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and support guides.
- We participate in change management processes, including implementation planning and execution.
- We support disaster recovery and business continuity testing activities.
- We collaborate with wider infrastructure and application teams to deliver operational and project-based work.
- We ensure systems remain compliant with organisational security and governance requirements.

We are seeking a number of Linux and Unix Engineers for a Government project. The role is an 18-month contract paying £300 to £350 a day inside IR35, with hybrid working in Telford. The role is based in Telford initially and offers remote working after an initial settling-in period.
