Job Description
Salary: £66,500 - 91,000 per year
Requirements:- Proven Java development experience, including JVM-based languages such as Kotlin and Scala, with experience using advanced Java features and mentoring others.
- Experience with Spring Framework, including Spring MVC and Spring Boot.
- Experience designing, developing, and securing RESTful APIs, including threat assessment during development.
- Strong understanding of OOP principles, SOLID, design patterns, and secure coding practices.
- Experience deploying and managing applications using containerisation technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience defining and using version control strategies for the team, such as Git.
- Understanding of system performance monitoring, performance issue diagnosis, and implementing solutions.
- Experience using CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Jenkins, Bitbucket Pipelines, or GitHub Actions.
- Working knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure and their core services.
- Desirable: experience with Kafka, SQS, Lambda, Dynatrace, ELK stack, Splunk, logging for application insights, JPA, Hibernate, Swagger, AI assistants like GitHub Copilot, Selenium, Axe, Postman, Bruno, and delivering complex projects from backlog to production.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to understand task requirements, dependencies, and prioritise work effectively.
- Ability to mentor and guide junior engineers.
- Willing and eligible to obtain UK Security Check (SC) clearance if required.
- Design, develop, and maintain high-quality Java codebases.
- Participate throughout the software development lifecycle, from design to deployment and maintenance.
- Provide technical insight during system design.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver software solutions.
- Write well-documented code and contribute to technical documentation.
- Troubleshoot issues, maintain live services, and help resolve complex production issues.
- Stay up to date with the latest Java technologies and best practices, and assess opportunities for adoption.
- Communicate complex technical topics to both technical and non-technical audiences.
