Director of Data Science

Salary: £60,000 - 100,000 per year

Requirements:

• In-depth knowledge of machine learning and how to deploy models in production at scale, including MLOps
• Proactive problem-solving skills and comfort working with ambiguity in physical hardware and complex logistics
• Strong communication skills with the ability to tell a clear data story and manage complex stakeholder relationships
• Ability to use data to help product management prioritise feature development and measure post-release improvements
• Leadership experience in coaching, running 1:1s, and building high-performing teams through knowledge sharing

Responsibilities:

• Lead a high-impact cluster of four teams across logistics optimisation, applied machine learning, forecasting, and modelling
• Set the strategy and delivery for data science, machine learning, and operations research across Logistics and Fulfilment
• Build a strong partnership between data science and engineering to move models into production at scale
• Shape and communicate the long-term vision for our data science group, ensuring research translates into operational value
• Support the development of our data science craft and help the wider organisation identify the biggest opportunities
• Work with Data Engineering and Analytics to embed a strategy focused on the right metrics for better product decisions
• Line manage Data Team Leaders and represent the data function in Logistics and Fulfilment senior leadership forums
