Data Center Engineer

Salary: £51,000 - 91,000 per year

Requirements:

• Educated to BTEC National Experience level (minimum) in telecoms, preferably, or IT
• Sound knowledge of wide area networking and associated protocols for sectionalisation and testing
• Good understanding of fibre and copper interfaces
• Ability to conduct fault isolation and fault finding
• Ability to complete rack installations of routers, switches, firewalls, and servers
• Good understanding of Microsoft and Linux operating systems and associated products
• Fibre optic testing and safe working practices
• CompTIA A+ certificate or similar

Responsibilities:

• Receive and act on all customer incident, event, and request notifications
• Prioritise, diagnose, and investigate incidents according to agreed procedures
• Facilitate recovery, document, and close resolved incidents, events, and requests via agreed procedures
• Implement agreed IT infrastructure changes and follow maintenance routines
• Use network management tools to investigate and diagnose network problems, collect performance statistics, and create reports
• Liaise with customers regarding fault correction progress and circuit installations
• Maintain customer equipment manuals, network drawings, and circuit databases accurately and efficiently
• Install telecoms cabinets and cable installations, and configure customer equipment
• Be responsible for the security of FM areas
• Monitor compliance against agreed processes, investigate and resolve non-compliance, and carry out routine audit checks to ensure adherence to policies and procedures

We are hiring a Data Centre Service Desk Engineer for a shift-based role working 12-hour shifts on a 4 days on/4 days off pattern, alternating between night and day shifts. You will support customers at both London sites by ensuring incidents, events, and requests are processed to industry standards and resolved within agreed service levels, while providing a value-added service.
