Software Engineer

Salary: £66,000 - 68,000 per year

Requirements:

• We are looking for a talented, experienced Software Engineer to join our engineering group and work within our Platform team.
• You must have the right to work in the UK.
• You should have knowledge of operating system fundamentals and experience maintaining an operating system.
• You should have knowledge of computer networking fundamentals.
• You should have experience using Python to automate system administration tasks on Linux-based platforms.
• You should have experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware or KVM and containerization technologies such as Docker or Podman.
• We would love to see experience with Linux distribution package management systems such as Dpkg or RPM and maintaining packages with them.
• We would love to see a proven history of Open Source contributions.
• We would love to see experience debugging software written in languages such as C, Python, or Rust.
• We would love to see experience developing scalable, secure systems and platforms.
• We would love to see experience with system deployment techniques for one or more of AWS, GCP, or Azure.

Responsibilities:

• We will maintain and manage our PexOS platform.
• We will work alongside engineers based in the UK and Norway.
• We will share responsibility for the continuous development and improvement of our platform.
• We will develop and maintain the Linux-based PexOS operating system.
• We will provide secure VM and container images for other teams to use in products.
• We will extend OS functionality to meet new OS requirements.
• We will provide security support for software on the platform.
• We will extend compatibility for a growing range of cloud providers and hypervisors.
• We will provide low-level engineering support for other teams.
