Java Developer

Salary: £135,000 - 135,000 per year

Requirements:

• We require strong Java experience, including hands-on Spring Boot development.
• We require proven experience owning or delivering cloud migration projects.
• We require strong AWS knowledge, as most of the role is AWS-focused.
• We need experience migrating infrastructure, databases, applications, and frameworks to the cloud.
• We need excellent communication skills and confidence working across teams and with stakeholders.
• We need the ability to ramp up quickly in unfamiliar systems and learn new domain knowledge fast.
• Experience re-platforming or modernising legacy systems would be beneficial.
• Broader DevOps or CI/CD exposure would be a plus.
• Previous use of AI-assisted coding tools would be beneficial.

Responsibilities:

• We will have you develop and support Java and Spring Boot solutions.
• We will expect you to own and deliver cloud migration work across a full product stack.
• We will rely on you to migrate infrastructure, databases, applications, and frameworks to AWS cloud services.
• We will have you work closely with engineers and stakeholders across teams.
• We will expect you to quickly understand existing systems and domain knowledge.
• We will have you use AI tools to support development and delivery where appropriate.
• We will ask you to contribute within a small engineering team of 4 to 5 engineers.

We are offering an initial 3-month contract with a strong likelihood of extension to 6 to 9 months, starting ASAP, at a day rate of £540 inside IR35. The role is hybrid in Manchester, with 2 days per week in the office. You will join a small team of 4 to 5 engineers and take part in a two-stage interview process, beginning with a virtual technical interview followed by an in-person session focused on migration knowledge and a pairing exercise. We are looking for an engineer who can help us deliver a cloud migration programme with a heavy AWS focus, while working collaboratively across teams and using modern tools to support delivery.
