Tech Lead, Autonomy Performance - Robotaxi

Full-Time£60,000 - 60,000 per year前天United Kingdom
IT

Job Description

Salary: £60,000 - 60,000 per year

Requirements:
  • Demonstrated cross-functional engineering leadership, with experience leading complex delivery across multiple teams and stakeholders to achieve production outcomes without direct line management.
  • Strong product and customer orientation, with the ability to connect technical performance metrics to rider experience, operational outcomes, and launch readiness.
  • Strong autonomy or robotics performance debugging experience, including hands-on work with real-world issues and time-series or real-time signals.
  • Strong technical foundations in learned systems or ML-driven robotics, with the ability to reason about model behaviour, failure modes, and measurement pitfalls in data-driven autonomy stacks.
  • Production fluency in Python, C++, and SQL, with the ability to work directly in code and analytics pipelines to diagnose problems and validate improvements.
  • Experience owning or co-owning releases to a fleet of robots or vehicles in production, including defining release processes, gates, rollback plans, and regression handling.
  • Familiarity with modern data and observability stacks used in autonomy programs, such as Databricks, SQL, Grafana, internal evaluation or simulation tooling, and dashboarding or reporting.
  • Track record of building scalable triage systems and performance programs, including metrics taxonomy, prioritisation frameworks, and quality bars, in safety-critical or mission-critical environments.
Responsibilities:
  • Own and evolve the autonomy performance measurement framework for Robotaxi, including the metrics, dashboards, and leadership narrative used to make ship or no-ship decisions.
  • Build and run the end-to-end performance improvement loop by detecting issues, triaging and prioritising them, driving root-cause investigations, and ensuring fixes land across model, robot software, backend, and evaluation tooling.
  • Lead cross-functional execution across AV core, evaluation and validation, robotics, robot software, triage and systems, and SRE, aligning roadmaps to performance outcomes even without direct reporting authority.
  • Define and enforce performance release gates and regression detection for production deployments.
  • Own readiness calls, post-release monitoring, and follow-through on incidents and regressions.
  • Be hands-on in the data and code when needed, using Python, C++, and SQL to accelerate debugging, validate hypotheses, and unblock delivery.

More:

Founded in 2017, we are Wayve, the leading developer of Embodied AI technology. Our advanced AI software and foundation models enable vehicles to perceive, understand, and navigate complex environments, improving the usability and safety of automated driving systems. Our vision is to create autonomy that propels the world forward, and our intelligent, mapless, hardware-agnostic AI products are designed for automakers to accelerate the transition from assisted to automated driving. This is a high-impact technical leadership role at the centre of our Robotaxi launch, with a clear growth path toward leading a small team as the program scales. The role is based in our London office, and we operate a hybrid working policy that combines time together in our offices and workshops with time working from home. We value diversity, foster an inclusive environment, and are committed to creating a fair, respectful workplace where every contribution matters.
