Senior Software Engineer

Salary: £60,000 - 100,000 per year

Requirements:

• Experience developing UI applications using popular frameworks
• Strong embedded C++ experience
• Strong experience in TypeScript
• Experience writing functional integration and unit tests
• Good understanding of core OS concepts such as memory management and multithreading
• Good understanding of API design, considerations, and trade-offs
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Consumer electronics experience building media/content and/or ad products is beneficial
• Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science or a related field
• Experience working in streaming is a plus
• Experience with AI tools, agentic engineering workflows, or automation to move faster and scale impact is valued

Responsibilities:

• Develop core features of our Roku Channel app and Roku OS
• Work closely with Product Development, UI/UX Design, Platform Services, and Release Management teams to support application development
• Investigate, diagnose, and resolve issues
• Contribute to embedded UI development, algorithm implementation for complex features, and underlying architecture
• Work with product management to understand new features and international market needs
• Develop using modern C++ libraries and frameworks, scripting languages, and third-party code integration
• Build tools that support the wider development community within Roku
