Senior Oracle APEX & Database Administrator

Salary: £63,000 - 103,000 per year

Requirements:

• 5–10+ years of Oracle Database Administration experience
• Strong experience with Oracle APEX and ORDS administration
• Deep knowledge of Oracle 19c+ database architecture
• Deep knowledge of PL/SQL, performance tuning, and troubleshooting
• Experience with Linux/Unix environments
• Experience with backup/recovery strategies (RMAN)
• Experience with database upgrades and migrations
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in complex environments
• Experience with Oracle Data Guard
• Experience with WebLogic or similar middleware platforms
• Experience with integration with enterprise systems (EBS, APIs, identity management)
• Knowledge of cloud platforms, with OCI preferred
• Familiarity with enterprise monitoring tools and automation frameworks
• Experience supporting APEX in high-availability, multi-instance environments
• Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft SQL Server
• Experience with PostgreSQL and MySQL is nice to have
• Strong communication and cross-team collaboration skills
• Ability to lead technical initiatives and mentor junior DBAs
• Detail-oriented with a strong ownership mindset
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities:

• Support and enhance enterprise database platforms and Oracle APEX application environments
• Design, administer, and optimize Oracle databases and APEX/ORDS platforms supporting critical business applications
• Work closely with DBA, middleware, and application teams to ensure high availability, performance, and security across development, QA, and production environments
• Manage and maintain Oracle databases (19c and newer) across multiple environments
• Perform database installations, upgrades, patching, and migrations
• Implement backup/recovery strategies and disaster recovery solutions
• Monitor database performance and tune SQL, memory, and storage
• Manage database security, roles, and access controls
• Support PDB/CDB architecture and database consolidation strategies
• Install, configure, and upgrade Oracle APEX and ORDS environments
• Manage APEX schemas, users, and workspace configurations
• Support APEX application deployments and lifecycle management
• Troubleshoot APEX performance, session management, and runtime issues
• Configure ORDS connections, pools, and security integration
• Support integration between APEX and enterprise systems such as APIs, EBS, and middleware
• Manage multi-environment setups, including DEV, QA, and PROD
• Support WebLogic or application server configurations for APEX/ORDS
• Coordinate database and application upgrades with cross-functional teams
• Maintain environment consistency and deployment standards
• Support capacity planning and performance testing initiatives
• Provide Tier 3 support for database and APEX incidents
• Troubleshoot complex issues including database performance degradation, APEX application errors, and ORDS connectivity and configuration issues
• Monitor system health and proactively resolve issues
• Participate in on-call rotations and incident response
• Develop automation scripts for deployments, monitoring, and maintenance
• Improve DBA operational processes and documentation
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines for database and APEX deployments
• Ensure compliance with security and audit requirements
