Senior Infrastructure Specialist – Mainframe Db2 DBA

Salary: £44,000 - 76,000 per year

Requirements:

• Extensive, in-depth expertise and knowledge of Db2 on z/OS.
• Expert-level experience monitoring and optimizing Db2 performance, including SQL and buffer pool tuning, and making targeted recommendations to improve service stability and availability.
• Expert-level experience governing and approving DDL changes, managing schema evolution, validating impacts, and following change-control processes.
• Extensive experience leading troubleshooting and resolution of critical online systems.
• Proven ability to communicate complex technical concepts to senior leadership.
• Experience supporting and coaching junior team members on Db2 fundamentals, performance tuning, utilities, and operational processes.
• Desirable: 10+ years of experience as a z/OS Db2 DBA in a financial organization.

Responsibilities:

• We provide advanced technical support for mainframe Db2 and associated processes, tools, and utilities, including incident and problem resolution in complex environments.
• We run and maintain services in line with Group standards, policies, and agreed service levels, including providing out-of-hours support.
• We support investment-funded work in mainframe environments, including work outside normal hours.
• We support complex mainframe environments to tight timescales.
• We help drive strategy and design across the mainframe development and test estate.
• We own and drive the zDBA technology roadmap, working with stakeholders to deliver it.
• We implement standardization and drive team improvement initiatives.
• We collaborate with wider Lab and Platform teams to develop, promote, and implement process initiatives.
• We ensure processes, governance, and procedures are rigorously followed.

The role is full-time, 35 hours per week, based in Edinburgh or Manchester, with a hybrid working pattern that includes at least two days per week, or 40% of working time, in our Edinburgh office. The salary range is £72,702–£80,780.
