Senior Data/AI Engineer
Job Description
Salary: £95,000 - 130,000 per year
Requirements:- We are looking for someone with experience mentoring or coaching junior team members, and supporting team development and knowledge sharing.
- We need proven ability to lead technical workstreams and deliver results in complex environments.
- We are looking for experience engaging with senior stakeholders and contributing to strategic discussions, with the confidence to influence decision-making and drive outcomes.
- We need proven experience as a Data Developer, Data Engineer, AI Engineer, or in a similar role.
- We are looking for strong programming skills in Python, SQL, and/or similar languages.
- We need experience building data pipelines and working with structured and unstructured data.
- We would value familiarity with Generative AI and/or machine learning frameworks such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Langchain.
- Experience with cloud data platforms, data warehouses, or big data technologies is an advantage.
- We need strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- We are looking for the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience working in Agile delivery environments is required.
- Appointment to this role is subject to the candidate being eligible for and successfully obtaining UK Security Check (SC) security clearance.
- We lead a technical workstream within larger projects, coordinating activities, setting priorities, and ensuring high-quality delivery.
- We support and mentor junior team members within our workstream, sharing expertise and promoting best practices.
- We design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines, datasets, and data models to support analytics, reporting, and AI use cases.
- We develop and implement AI / machine learning models where appropriate, supporting use cases such as prediction, classification, automation, and insight generation.
- We develop generative AI enabled solutions using large language models and context/prompt engineering.
- We integrate data from multiple sources, ensuring data quality, consistency, and reliability.
- We work closely with Business Analysts, Data Analysts, and product teams to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- We implement testing, validation, and monitoring to ensure data accuracy, model performance, and solution reliability.
- We optimise data processing, storage, and model performance for scalability and efficiency.
- We produce clear technical documentation covering data models, pipelines, logic, and assumptions.
- We adhere to data governance, security, and privacy standards throughout the development lifecycle.
