Research Engineer

Salary: £59,000 - 99,000 per year

Requirements:

• Post-doctoral researcher with a background in systems research, such as query languages, databases, compilers, parallel computing, distributed systems, or hardware acceleration
• Experience in one or more of the following: query-language implementation; programming-language implementation; compiler construction and code generation (LLVM, x86, or ARM); managed runtimes and virtual machines (JVM or GraalVM); database internals; parallel or distributed computing; hardware acceleration (GPGPUs, FPGAs, or Smart NICs)
• Experience in an academic or industrial research environment and a robust understanding of research practice
• A strong background in designing and developing complex systems using languages such as C++, Java, or Rust would be beneficial

Responsibilities:

• Help realize the Aurendil vision for next-generation graph databases by designing and implementing a prototype from the ground up
• Participate in end-to-end development of a new database system architecture, from theoretical foundations through implementation and evaluation
• Disseminate research results to our product teams and the academic research community
