Quality Engineer

Salary: £130,000 - 140,400 per year

Requirements:

• Strong experience in CI/CD software testing and automation within the software delivery lifecycle
• Solid understanding of Git, with GitLab experience preferred
• Experience with Java/Spring
• Proven communication skills
• Proven coaching skills
• Quality-driven mindset with the ability to adapt and context switch
• Experience in management
• Knowledge of testing frameworks and practices; optional experience with JUnit, Playwright, Gatling, OWASP ZAP, SonarQube, WireMock, Axe, Kubernetes, Docker, micro-services, AWS, Open API, WCAG, Cucumber/Gherkin, Selenium, Agile, and Scrum

Responsibilities:

• We act as custodians of quality within the scrum team and implement our Core Modernisation Test Strategy and Project Test Approaches
• We ensure quality is a full team responsibility across all test levels
• We govern and support the team to follow best practice
• We achieve the appropriate level of test coverage throughout the test lifecycle
• We enable automated tools to shift left quality assurance, reduce risk, and shorten the feedback loop for proving features
• We ensure applications are built to be tested via automation and support manual testing when automation options are exhausted
• We apply structured testing and automation approaches aligned to TDD/BDD
• We bring experience of testing within the CI/CD lifecycle and its supporting technologies
• We apply test approaches and risk-based testing methodologies
• We upskill the engineering team to improve QA capability and promote shared ownership
• We implement test design techniques and strong test analysis
• We manage databases and test data creation, including best practices for test data management
• We are responsible for the quality of testing collateral
• We cover unit, system, functional, integration, and non-functional testing, including performance, accessibility, and security testing
• We analyse complex business requirements, business processes, technical architectures, and designs to shape the testing solution
