Platform Engineer – AWS IaC

Salary: £40,000 - 70,000 per year

Requirements:

• Experience managing infrastructure with Terraform on a cloud platform
• Deep knowledge of AWS
• Proven track record delivering large projects or improvements across complex infrastructure deployments and platforms
• Good knowledge of security best practices and expertise implementing and managing CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with containerisation using Docker
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Strong collaboration and communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders

Responsibilities:

• Design, build and optimise AWS infrastructure using services including EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, ECS and Lambda
• Lead infrastructure projects from requirements and architecture through to delivery
• Build and manage infrastructure as code using Terraform, CI/CD pipelines and automation
• Improve operational efficiency through scripting, tooling and automation
• Monitor and optimise AWS environments for performance, reliability and cost using CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana and other observability tools
• Implement AWS security best practices, including IAM roles, policies and least-privilege access
• Collaborate with software engineering teams and business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver infrastructure solutions
• Help shape engineering standards, tooling and ways of working
• Mentor less experienced engineers and contribute to the development of the wider infrastructure team

This hands-on Platform Engineer role offers ownership of infrastructure projects and the opportunity to shape architectural decisions as our technical and business needs evolve.
