Lead Cloud Data Engineer

Salary: £66,000 - 106,000 per year

Requirements:

• We are looking for a passionate data engineering leader with deep expertise in AWS and modern cloud-native data platforms.
• We need hands-on experience designing and delivering scalable data solutions, including data lakehouse architectures, transformation pipelines, serverless technologies, relational databases, and Infrastructure as Code.
• We value experience working with strategic third-party technology and modern engineering practices such as CI/CD, automation, and cloud security.
• We are looking for strong communication skills, a strategic mindset, and the ability to translate complex concepts into practical solutions that drive business value.
• AWS certifications, particularly in Data Engineering or Data Architecture, are highly valued.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the development and adoption of our modern AWS cloud-native data platform.
• Own our data lakehouse platform and design and deliver scalable data solutions, pipelines, and services.
• Work closely with engineering, governance, security, and risk teams to ensure our data is trusted, compliant, and delivers real business value.
• Champion data engineering best practices with data peers across our technology function.
• Mentor colleagues on emerging cloud, AI, and machine learning technologies.
• Help ensure our data platform is secure, reliable, and cost-effective.
• Shape a new capability and influence organisation-wide decisions as part of our five-year digital transformation strategy.
