Full Stack Mobile App Engineer

Salary: £60,000 - 75,000 per year

Requirements:

• We have strong commercial experience in software engineering, backend development or full-stack development.
• We have proven hands-on experience developing Java-based backend services.
• We have practical experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and integrating backend services with mobile applications and databases.
• We have experience with relational or NoSQL databases, SQL, Git, automated testing and modern software development practices.
• We understand software development lifecycle principles, continuous integration, code review, secure coding and production support.
• We have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• We can communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• We have experience with Flutter and Dart for cross-platform mobile application development, AWS services such as Lambda, SQS and CloudFormation, Sitecore or other headless Content Management Systems, SQL Server, database design, Jest, Infrastructure as Code, DevOps, CI/CD, microservices or cloud-native development.
• We have experience working within Agile or Scrum product teams and using AI-assisted software development tools.
• A degree or equivalent qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related discipline is desirable.
• Relevant certifications in Java, AWS, Cloud, DevOps or Agile methodologies would be advantageous.

Responsibilities:

• We design, develop, test, deploy and support full-stack mobile application features.
• We develop scalable and maintainable backend services using Java.
• We design and develop RESTful APIs connecting mobile applications with backend services.
• We integrate applications with relational and NoSQL databases, content management systems and third-party services.
• We contribute to mobile application development using Flutter and Dart where required.
• We take ownership of features from discovery and requirements gathering through to production support.
• We work with product owners and business stakeholders to understand business challenges and translate requirements into technical solutions.
• We investigate and resolve application, API, integration and production issues.
• We write secure, maintainable, reusable and well-tested software.
• We participate in code reviews, automated testing and continuous integration activities.
• We work with AWS and modern cloud deployment and operational practices.
• We collaborate with engineers, testers, designers and technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• We contribute to Agile planning, technical discussions, solution design and retrospectives.
• We use AI-assisted development tools responsibly while reviewing and validating generated code and solutions.
• We contribute to improvements in engineering processes, development tools, technical standards and ways of working.
