Job Description

Salary: £55,000 - 90,000 per year

Requirements:
  • Commercial experience developing embedded software or firmware solutions
  • Strong programming skills in C and/or C++
  • Experience developing for embedded Linux environments
  • Knowledge of real-time operating systems (RTOS)
  • Experience working with ARM-based processors and microcontrollers
  • Hardware integration and low-level software development experience
  • Understanding of serial communication protocols such as UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, Ethernet, or USB
  • Experience with debugging tools, test equipment, and performance optimisation techniques
  • Familiarity with software development lifecycles within regulated or engineering-led environments
  • Experience using Git and version control systems
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills
Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded software solutions for complex hardware platforms
  • Develop low-level software and firmware for embedded systems and microprocessor-based products
  • Collaborate with Electronics Engineers, Systems Engineers, Software Engineers, and Project Teams throughout the development lifecycle
  • Integrate software with sensors, electronic control systems, communication interfaces, and hardware architectures
  • Debug, analyse, and optimise performance-critical systems
  • Support system integration, verification, validation, and testing activities
  • Contribute to technical design reviews and software architecture decisions
  • Diagnose and resolve complex hardware and software integration challenges
  • Ensure software meets reliability, performance, safety, and security requirements
  • Support product development from concept and design through to deployment and ongoing improvement
