Salary: £61,000 - 101,000 per year

Requirements:

• We are looking for proven experience in domain or enterprise data modelling on large-scale data platforms.
• We need a strong understanding of data architecture, metadata management and data governance.
• We require experience using data modelling tools such as Erwin or equivalent.
• We are looking for experience with cloud-based data platforms such as Azure Data Lake and Databricks.
• We need familiarity with data cataloguing and lineage tools such as Microsoft Purview.
• We require strong SQL skills and experience with relational and dimensional modelling.
• We are looking for the ability to translate complex business concepts into clear data structures.
• We need experience working in agile delivery environments, including Jira and Confluence.
• We require excellent problem-solving, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• We need the ability to manage multiple modelling activities across different business domains.
• We require significant hands-on experience in data modelling projects, including designing and delivering Gold-layer data products in Databricks or a comparable modern lakehouse platform.
• We are looking for experience understanding business processes, information flows and source systems, and translating them into conceptual, logical and physical data models.
• We require experience in systems and database design, including relational and dimensional modelling techniques.
• We need experience collaborating with data engineers, analysts and business stakeholders, and the ability to influence and build relationships across technical teams, architects, Product Owners and business stakeholders.
• We require hands-on Databricks experience, including SQL and Python.
• We need strong communication skills and experience working with technical and business stakeholders.
• We require understanding of data quality, classification, privacy and governance principles, with the ability to embed them into model design.
• A degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science or a related discipline is desirable.
• Experience applying data quality, governance, metadata, lineage, security and privacy principles to BI and analytical solutions is desirable.
• Relevant certifications such as CDMP or Microsoft Azure Data Engineering certifications are desirable.

Responsibilities:

• We design, implement and maintain conceptual, logical and physical data models aligned to business domains.
• We maintain and enhance the enterprise data catalogue, ensuring metadata, lineage and business definitions remain accurate and trusted.
• We translate business requirements into clear, well-structured data models in collaboration with Product Owners, Technical Lead and delivery teams.
• We contribute to solution architecture discussions, ensuring data models support scalability and long-term strategy.
• We work closely with Data Engineers to validate models against ingestion pipelines and sample data.
• We provide high-quality model documentation to support downstream development and analytics.
• We maintain data modelling standards and best practices across squads.
• We apply change management principles to ensure consistency and traceability of model changes.
• We support governance and metadata management using recognised data modelling tools.
• We capture and maintain domain knowledge and model documentation.
• We engage with architects, SMEs, governance and compliance teams as needed.
• We manage and contribute to modelling work within the squads agile backlog.
• We actively participate in agile ceremonies, backlog refinement and sprint planning.

We are partnering directly with Southern Water to hire a Domain Data Modeller for our Durrington (Worthing) or Falmer (Brighton) offices, with hybrid working requiring two days per week in the office. This is a permanent role working 37 hours per week with a competitive salary and benefits.
