CAD/CAM & IT Systems Specialist

Salary: £28,000 - 30,000 per year

Requirements:

• Strong practical IT skills, including workstations, software deployment, user support, Windows environments, and confidence with servers, networks and backups.
• Experience with 3D CAD or CAD/CAM software such as iMOS, AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks, Cabinet Vision, or similar; direct iMOS or Winner experience is highly advantageous.
• Ability to think in parameters, rules and libraries rather than one-off drawings.
• A technical, methodical mindset with a strong eye for detail.
• Organised, calm under pressure, and able to handle several requests at once.
• Clear communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical colleagues and train others.
• Competent in Excel.
• Knowledge of joinery, panel processing, CNC or furniture construction is a genuine advantage.
• A degree or equivalent in design, engineering, computing or a related technical field is desirable but not essential if practical experience is strong.
• Must live within commuting distance of Cumbernauld.
• Must be able to work on site each day in an office-based role.

Responsibilities:

• Own the configuration of iMOS (Cyncly), including parameters, variables, construction methods, hardware libraries, materials, fittings, machining rules and output settings used by the design and engineering team.
• Build, test and maintain standard product constructions so catalogue and bespoke work produces consistent, production-ready data.
• Translate manufacturing requirements from the factory into reliable CAD-to-CAM settings, reducing rework and shop-floor queries.
• Support Winner for CGI visuals and quotations, including catalogues, product data, rendering settings and user issues.
• Work with related production software, including Magicut saw software, so cutting data, nesting and machine outputs stay aligned with iMOS.
• Liaise with Cyncly and other software suppliers on upgrades, licences, support tickets, training and new functionality.
• Create and maintain user guides, naming conventions and standards so the design team works consistently.
• Train designers, engineers and other users on software updates, new constructions and correct system use.
• Set up new workstations, user accounts, peripherals and standard software builds for office and factory users.
• Install, configure, update and licence business software, including design, quoting, office and manufacturing applications.
• Provide first-line support for hardware, software, network and server issues, diagnose problems and escalate to external IT support where needed.
• Keep servers, backups, antivirus and software versions in good order, and schedule updates with minimal disruption to production.
• Maintain an asset register of PCs, licences and key systems.
• Support data flow between design software, factory systems and the MRP system (Sage), including new stock items and process improvements where IT or software setup is involved.
• Recommend practical improvements to systems, security and workflow as the business grows.

We are recruiting a CAD/CAM & IT Systems Specialist to join our technical systems team in a hands-on role supporting both day-to-day IT across the business and the configuration of our CAD-to-CAM and visualisation software. The role is office-based at our Cumbernauld site, reports to our Technical Systems Manager, and offers flexible full-time working patterns agreed to suit business needs.
