Salary: £85,000 - 130,000 per year

Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science degree or higher from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • Ability to obtain security clearance
  • Proficiency in C++, Lua scripting, or a similar programming language
  • Familiarity with physics-based modelling and simulation systems engineering principles
  • Familiarity with version control systems such as Git or Bitbucket
  • Knowledge of Agile development methodologies
  • Familiarity with DevOps, automation, and CI/CD concepts
  • Understanding of testing frameworks and unit testing practices
  • Experience working as a Software Simulation Engineer or in a similar role
  • Experience across the Software Development Lifecycle and software standards such as ISO9001
  • Understanding of distributed interoperability simulation protocols used within defence collective training, such as DIS and HLA
  • Understanding and experience of COTS simulation and training environment development, execution, verification, validation, and deployments
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and software design principles
Responsibilities:
  • Support the design, architecture, and development of simulation models, simulation visualizations, virtual environments/platforms, and frameworks to enhance test performance, safety, and durability of software and hardware systems throughout the product lifecycle
  • Support partnership with stakeholders to review and identify simulation requirements and the dynamics of the systems being simulated
  • Support the design, modelling, simulation, testing, and analysis to assess and optimize overall system performance and capabilities

We are Boeing Defence United Kingdom Limited, and our Software Engineering and Systems Integration team in the UK works across Boeing Defence, Commercial Airplanes, Global Services, and Uncrewed Technologies. We are developing synthetic environment subsystems, mission systems capability, autonomous behaviours, ground control systems, technical publications, and proprietary tools, as well as contributing to commercial aircraft modifications, onboard network systems, cabin interiors, and supplemental type certification efforts. You will support Defence and Security domains across the UK, initially joining our Simulation Programmes across the Air, Land, and Maritime domains, with opportunities to grow across our wider Software Engineering portfolio. Our primary location is Fleet, with Bristol also considered, and we generally expect at least 3 days a week in the office to support collaboration.
