Job Description

Salary: £13,000 - 49,000 per year

Requirements:
  • Solid background in data analysis and business intelligence, ideally in a software or technology organisation, with experience working with engineering, product and operational data.
  • Hands-on experience building dashboards and reports from scratch for specific audiences using Power BI, Tableau, Looker or an equivalent BI tool.
  • Working-level SQL skills; Python or similar scripting capability is a plus, particularly for data wrangling and pipeline automation.
  • Pragmatic approach, with the ability to deliver useful solutions quickly and iterate.
  • Ability to ask the right questions, clarify underlying stakeholder needs and communicate findings clearly to non-technical audiences.
  • Self-sufficient and organised, with the ability to manage requests across multiple workstreams and handle ambiguity in source data.
  • Familiarity with engineering metrics frameworks such as DORA metrics, deployment frequency, lead time for change and change failure rate is beneficial.
  • Practical experience integrating data from multiple source systems using APIs, connectors or automated extraction methods is beneficial.
  • Experience with engineering platforms such as Jira, GitHub, Azure DevOps or Datadog, or similar tooling ecosystems, is beneficial.
  • Exposure to engineering transformation, software delivery or operational excellence programmes is beneficial.
Responsibilities:
  • Own the end-to-end data and reporting capability supporting the Engineering Transformation Programme.
  • Collate and integrate data from sources across the engineering estate, including Jira, GitHub/Azure DevOps, Datadog, Aha!, HR systems and programme-specific trackers.
  • Design and own a metrics framework covering engineering productivity, quality, delivery and workforce transition.
  • Build and maintain accurate, timely and fit-for-purpose dashboards and reports for programme leadership, divisional VPs, the CTO and the CPO.
  • Translate stakeholder questions into data problems and present findings in accessible, useful outputs.
  • Establish repeatable, low-maintenance data pipelines where possible, reducing manual collation and one-off analysis.
  • Support the Central VPs and the Director of Agentic SDLC with data and reporting for their workstreams.
  • Proactively identify and communicate data quality issues, including inconsistent, missing or unreliable source data, and propose solutions where possible.
  • Create executive-level dashboards that support informed decision-making.
  • Build consistent metrics and reporting standards across programme workstreams and develop frameworks that can scale with organisational maturity.
  • Ensure stakeholders can rely on the integrity and accuracy of reporting, and identify trends, risks and opportunities in engineering and workforce data.
  • As the programme matures, help connect quality signals across Datadog, Pendo and the PDLC to inform roadmap decisions, develop self-service reporting for divisional engineering leaders, and contribute to the long-term data strategy for Engineering Operations.
