Requirements:

• Strong C# / .NET backend development experience
• Azure Functions experience
• Azure API Management experience
• Azure Service Bus experience
• Azure SQL experience, including stored procedures, schema changes and performance awareness
• Azure DevOps experience, including CI/CD and deployment pipelines
• Experience working in Agile Scrum environments
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and own delivery without close supervision
• Terraform, Bicep or ARM templates experience is useful
• Application Insights or Azure Monitor experience is useful
• Auth0 or Entra ID B2C experience is useful
• D365 integration experience is useful
• Logic Apps or Power Automate experience is useful
• Secure API development and OAuth2 / OIDC flows experience is useful

Responsibilities:

• Build, enhance and support backend services across a live digital platform
• Deliver features and integration work
• Provide production support
• Carry out testing and DevOps activities
• Work closely with product and technical stakeholders
• Contribute across the full delivery lifecycle, from understanding requirements and shaping the technical approach through to build, test, deployment and operational support
• Pick up requirements, ask the right questions, own work end-to-end and deliver production-quality code from early in the assignment

We are supporting a business that needs an experienced Backend Developer to join a mature Azure platform team and contribute quickly across live sprint delivery. The environment is Microsoft and Azure-led, with a backend platform built around C#/.NET, Azure Functions, Azure API Management, Azure SQL, Service Bus and Azure DevOps. This is a mainly remote contract role with occasional travel to Derby, offered at up to £425 per day, outside IR35, on an initial 3-month contract. We are looking for someone who enjoys hands-on engineering, can make an immediate impact, and can communicate clearly and take ownership from the first sprint.
