Senior Network Engineer

Salary: £60,000 - 100,000 per year

Requirements:

• Three to five years of overall IT experience in networking, including LAN/WAN, automation with Ansible or Python, firewalls, security and encryption technologies, and load balancing.
• Experience with TCP/IP protocol communications.
• Broad knowledge of Ciscos product portfolio.
• Knowledge of network diagnostics, BGP, SNMP, VPN, SSH, and MPLS technologies.
• Experience working in a heavily regulated environment with DSS/PCI compliance.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated listening skills.
• Self-starter who uses good judgment and can mentor lower-level employees and lead others.
• Ability to work with limited supervision, with work subject to review for direction and strategy.
• Ability to identify and plan improvements in agreement with colleagues.
• Current CCNP certification or equivalent experience.
• Must abide by our security policies and practices, protect the confidentiality and integrity of accessed information, report suspected security violations or breaches, and complete mandatory security training.

Responsibilities:

• Support and assist with the design, architecture, implementation, security, and support of a multi-site network communications environment.
• Manage and implement a range of network projects.
• Develop detailed requirements for upgrades to production, corporate, and non-production network devices.
• Participate in planning and implementing network device upgrades.
• Troubleshoot network communications and provide in-depth technical assistance with operational problems.
• Support assigned projects, including planning, time and resource utilization, and implementing changes inside and outside core hours.
• Identify project risks, escalate potential concerns, and help prevent design updates and missed requirements.
• Collaborate across teams to obtain information, complete projects, and overcome obstacles.
• Engage with change processes and operations management.
• Support vendor management.
• Identify service improvements to optimize network performance, efficiency, and capacity.
• Perform baseline checks on new hardware to confirm it meets company standards and aligns with the current security posture.
• Share knowledge with peers and review their work.
