Job Description

Salary: £73,000 - 90,000 per year

Requirements:
  • At least 2 years of experience building and maintaining complex distributed systems, particularly microservices and related technologies; experience across the full stack is a plus.
  • Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent nontraditional training.
  • Proficiency in Go and Python or a similar modern programming language, or the ability to learn one quickly.
  • Experience designing and implementing APIs and microservices in a high-velocity production environment.
  • Strong understanding of observability and the software development life cycle in an Agile environment.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical updates clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work across team boundaries and with third parties to resolve dependencies and advance projects.
  • Familiarity with cloud technologies such as AWS, messaging systems such as Kafka or SQS, or data warehouse tools such as Snowflake is a plus.
  • Focus on business outcomes and customer adoption.
  • Ability to work autonomously, turning high-level priorities into actionable technical roadmaps.
  • Interest in understanding customer use cases and translating them into technical solutions.
  • Commitment to mentoring colleagues and maintaining high standards for code quality and operational reliability.
Responsibilities:
  • Drive engineering initiatives for unified financial reporting and process consolidation, ensuring systems are reliable, monitored, and adopted.
  • Lead the design and implementation of robust microservices and APIs for payments, incentives, and billing.
  • Engage with internal customers, product owners, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and resolve cross-team dependencies.
  • Support the professional development of peers and junior team members through constructive feedback on code, system design, and engineering processes.
  • Resolve complex on-call incidents and implement measures to improve long-term system health and financial integrity.
