Software Development Engineer II - BDP

Salary: £36,000 - 76,000 per year

Responsibilities:

• Youll develop features for our backend event-driven platform using Java and Spring Boot.
• Youll pair with more senior engineers to design, implement, test, and ship code.
• Youll learn to use observability tools such as New Relic and Splunk to monitor live systems.
• Youll participate in planning sessions and team discussions to understand requirements and contribute ideas.
• Youll write automated test suites to support code correctness and maintainability.
• Youll collaborate with team members to review code and improve development practices.
• Youll develop your understanding of distributed systems, large-scale data processing, and performance optimisation.
• Youll create, maintain, and deploy applications using CI/CD pipelines.
• Youll gain hands-on experience with Kafka, Kubernetes, and managing distributed services.

This is a full-time, permanent hybrid role based in Welwyn Garden City, with 60% of the week spent collaborating at our offices or local sites and the remainder remote.
