Lead Data Engineer (DevOps/MLOps)

Salary: £54,000 - 94,000 per year

Requirements:

• 5+ years experience in a Data, ML or Platform Engineering role, with strong MLOps expertise
• Confident programming in Python and SQL
• Experience with Kubernetes and Docker
• Hands-on experience using cloud services such as Azure, AWS or GCP to design and build ML products, pipelines and platforms
• In-depth understanding of the software development life cycle, DevOps and MLOps methodologies, including continuous integration, testing and deployment of data and model pipelines
• Ability to design simple solutions to complex business problems
• Comfortable working hands-on while thinking strategically, dealing with ambiguity and challenging the status quo
• Ability to build relationships with technical and business stakeholders and explain complex technical subjects to non-technical stakeholders
• Familiarity with data protection, consumer duty and other relevant legislation
• Desirable: experience with responsible artificial intelligence usage

Responsibilities:

• Define and drive adoption of MLOps standards across CI/CD, containerisation, monitoring, alerting, testing and deployment
• Write high-quality, well-tested Python code for production pipelines and services serving billions of requests annually
• Lead delivery and continuous improvement of Data Science products that support and enhance MLOps processes
• Implement best practices and build Data Science products that add business value
• Mentor and develop Data Engineers from graduate to senior levels
• Collaborate with business and technology teams, including architects and external experts from Microsoft Azure
• Design, build and enhance scalable processes and workflows
• Champion Data Science and MLOps best practices across the business
• Maintain data governance standards and ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations
• Identify opportunities to improve how we work, challenge the status quo and drive positive change
• Help define technical direction, improve engineering practices, shape architecture, improve deployment practices and guide technical decisions

We are Allianz UK Personal, seeking a Lead Data Engineer (DevOps/MLOps) to enhance our MLOps capability and lead cloud-based Data Science product delivery. Youll join an ambitious, agile, stream-aligned team working with technical and business stakeholders to deliver products that drive commercial value. This is a permanent, full-time hybrid role based in our London, Bristol or Bournemouth offices, with two office days per month. The salary is circa £80,000 per annum, based on relevant experience, skills and location.
