Data Engineer / Network Traffic Analysis
Job Description
Salary: £136,500 - 143,000 per year
Requirements:- Strong hands-on experience with Wireshark
- Strong hands-on experience with PCAP / packet capture
- Strong hands-on experience with network traffic analysis
- Strong hands-on experience with network sniffing
- Strong hands-on experience with tcpdump
- Strong hands-on knowledge of TCP/IP
- Strong hands-on knowledge of DNS
- Strong hands-on knowledge of HTTP / HTTPS
- Strong hands-on knowledge of network protocols and troubleshooting
- Python and/or SQL experience
- Experience with GCP / Google Cloud, BigQuery, Pub/Sub or Dataflow is beneficial but not essential
- Capture and analyse network traffic using Wireshark, PCAP and tcpdump
- Investigate network behaviour at packet and protocol level
- Analyse TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, ports, protocols and traffic flows
- Filter packet captures to identify patterns, anomalies and potential issues
- Troubleshoot network connectivity, latency, routing and protocol issues
- Extract, transform and analyse technical/network data
- Use Python and SQL to work with network, telemetry or data sets
- Work alongside data, networking and security teams

We are recruiting for a Data Engineer / Network Traffic Analysis specialist to join a highly technical team working with large volumes of network and traffic data. This is a 6-month contract with a day rate of £500 - £550 inside IR35, based in Islington, London, with a hybrid working pattern of 2 days per week onsite.
