Software Engineer
Job Description
Salary: £57,000 - 97,000 per year
Requirements:- Strong production-grade experience with C# and .NET.
- Experience with ASP.NET MVC.
- Experience with SQL Server.
- Experience working with Azure-hosted services.
- Experience designing solutions within complex, highly integrated systems.
- Ability to assess impacts across multiple downstream integrations and platforms.
- Proficiency in, or willingness to learn, Java, Ruby, or Elixir.
- Experience with or enthusiasm for AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code.
- Strong testing discipline, including unit and integration testing.
- Experience with production monitoring practices.
- Security-conscious development experience, including PII and PCI awareness.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work within a structured delivery and deployment cadence.
- Own roadmap-driven features end-to-end across AgentPort, Supplier API, and Traveller Identity.
- Partner with the Technical Product Manager/Product Owner and Tech Lead to deliver strategic platform outcomes.
- Translate roadmap themes into scalable technical solutions.
- Identify opportunities for integrations, consolidation, scalability, and platform growth.
- Analyse requirements thoroughly and proactively resolve ambiguities before development begins.
- Design minimal-footprint solutions with clear documentation of technical decisions.
- Assess and manage downstream impacts across complex integration ecosystems.
- Deliver high-quality C# and .NET solutions following established coding standards.
- Follow ASP.NET MVC, queue-based integration architecture, SQL Server, and Azure App Services best practices.
- Apply SOLID principles, security-conscious development, and proactive error handling.
- Use AI-assisted engineering tools, including Claude Code and internal AI tooling, as part of daily development workflows.
- Write and maintain unit and integration tests for all delivered functionality.
- Conduct end-to-end validation and provide documented testing evidence.
- Participate actively in code reviews and provide constructive technical feedback.
- Manage deployments, monitor production performance using Datadog, and resolve issues promptly.
- Take ownership of production outcomes and maintain a zero-production-error mindset.
- Collaborate effectively across globally distributed teams using clear written and verbal communication.
- Contribute to engineering maturity initiatives and broader Platform Services goals.
