Gameplay Programmer

Salary: £24,000 - 64,000 per year

Requirements:

• 4+ years experience in C++
• Excellent feel for RPG systems and gameplay in general
• Experience with commercial proprietary engines
• Open-minded, willing to experiment and iterate on a specific feature
• Concepts such as state machines, pathfinding, and AI routines should be second nature
• Ability to think like a designer to create compelling and fun gameplay
• Can easily communicate in English
• Team player willing to take responsibility
• Passion for making and playing great games
• Excellent software design and problem-solving skills
• Excellent software debugging skills
• Excellent architectural skills; designing many parallel gameplay systems is not a problem
• Game development experience
• Full-time, on-site availability
• Nice to have: Bachelors degree in computer science or software engineering
• Nice to have: Experience with machine learning algorithms
• Nice to have: Experience with TDD and ECS
• Nice to have: Background in RPGs
• Nice to have: Shipped game/console titles

Responsibilities:

• Work on all aspects of the games systems, including engine features, gameplay, UI, audio, animation, scripting, and tools
• Work closely with other departments to implement the needed game components
• Work with almost all content creators to deliver required features
• Write robust, maintainable, auto-testable code in TDD fashion
• Participate actively in the design and production of the game as the technical side of the creative team and first line of feedback
• Help scope features and advise on the best ways to implement them
• Work within an international team on a daily basis across multiple studios worldwide
