Principal Engineer (Front-End)

Salary: £47,000 - 86,000 per year

Requirements:

• We are looking for strong transformational leadership skills, with the ability to influence decisions and implement new processes aligned to business goals.
• We need excellent mentoring and people development capability.
• We require extensive experience in application and/or web development within an Agile environment.
• We are looking for strong experience with at least one Agile methodology such as Scrum, Kanban, or SAFe, and tools such as Jira or Octane.
• We need expert knowledge of cloud platforms.
• We require advanced coding expertise in React or React Native app development frameworks.
• We need expert use of GitHub for source control.
• We require a strong understanding of build, release, and deployment automation.
• We need proven ability to design and integrate CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Azure DevOps or Jenkins.
• We require deep experience with continuous integration platforms such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or equivalent.
• Desirable: experience with monitoring tools such as Grafana, Dynatrace, or equivalent.

Responsibilities:

• We will develop engineers through line management, mentoring, sponsorship, and delivering clear, constructive feedback.
• We will deploy the role to the highest-priority business challenges, quickly resolving complex issues and helping the organisation learn how to prevent them in future.
• We will provide strategic and technical input to improve project outcomes and influence the companys direction through high-impact delivery.
• We will work closely with stakeholders to shape and improve the delivery pipeline by identifying gaps and leading solutions that increase speed, reliability, and consistency across the SDLC.
• We will identify opportunities to reuse and enhance existing platforms to maximise engineering investment.
• We will lead the Centre of Excellence for the domain, driving tooling improvements, establishing best practices and controls, and embedding continuous learning.
• We will champion high standards, link technical decisions to business impact, and foster a high-performance engineering culture.
