Senior Software Engineer - Full-Stack / Cross-Asset Trading Systems

Salary: £55,000 - 95,000 per year

Requirements:

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Experience in modern programming languages with the desire to become a JavaScript/TypeScript expert.
• Prior experience in JavaScript/TypeScript is not required but would be a plus.
• A strong software engineering mindset, especially in the quality and correctness of our work.
• Good communication skills and the ability to explain technical problems to non-technical stakeholders.
• A desire to learn, understand and scale existing systems, sharing knowledge along the way.
• Experience developing platforms, APIs, or plugin architectures.
• Familiarity with Redux or React.
• Experience leading large projects with multiple stakeholders.
• Experience triaging and debugging production problems.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers.

Responsibilities:

• Build a scalable, reliable, high-volume platform and solve complex software problems.
• Design and build reusable, business-agnostic software across the stack.
• Develop and deploy frontend and backend systems, including client-side Terminal integration and data subscription pipelines.
• Write rock-solid code across the stack and contribute to the infrastructure we use.
• Work with colleagues in our team, other Engineering teams, and Product to flesh out requirements, design and build new features, and release them to users.
• Drive the incorporation of new technologies and improve our development practices.
• Mentor others and encourage knowledge sharing to support the growth of our team.
• Lead critical projects and have input into software architecture and future direction.
• Collaborate with product managers and engineering teams across Bloomberg who use or onboard onto the platform.

We are building the Cross-Asset Trading System (CATS) Blotter, a reusable platform that supports some of Bloombergs most demanding trading applications, with infrastructure, frameworks, and frontend systems at the core of the platform.
