Analytics Engineer

Salary: £20,000 - 60,000 per year

Requirements:

• We need experience with semantic modelling and KPI governance, including designing and maintaining enterprise KPI definitions and semantic models as requirements evolve.
• We need experience operating a modelling and release process with standards, reviews, and safe rollouts for analytics assets.
• We need comfort building and supporting analytics assets where Databricks is the consumption plane, with data structured through Raw, Cleansed, and Curated layers on AWS S3.
• We need experience working within Unity Catalog governance and quality controls, data contracts, and monitoring via Soda.
• We need proven capability maintaining Power BI semantic models at scale and implementing pragmatic operational practices, model hygiene, and repeatable maintenance.
• We need experience with ThoughtSpot, including implementing or assessing RLS options and managing user and group access patterns.
• We need demonstrated ability to improve platform reliability through proactive practices such as alerts and processes rather than reactive firefighting.
• We need engineering discipline for analytics, including using version control and controlled change and release practices for analytics assets.
• We need the ability to translate business questions into durable datasets and explain changes clearly to stakeholders.
• We need experience with dbt-like practices, including modular models, tests, documentation, and CI.
• We need familiarity with Microsoft guidance for Power BI lifecycle management and managing change across environments.
• We need exposure to BDH ecosystem tools such as Dataiku and catalogue patterns.
• We need awareness of BDH ingestion patterns such as Lakeflow Connect and Boomi to anticipate downstream impacts.
• We need skills and experience in data architecture development, data engineering, data integration, data integrity, data modeling, and data security.
• We need experience with Microsoft Power Business Intelligence, Python, and Tableau.

• We design, implement, and optimise inclusive, high-quality data models and platform performance to enable accurate, efficient analytics and support data-driven decision-making.
• We collaborate with diverse stakeholders and align data outputs with dynamic business needs.
• We design and implement data models and indexes to support the platform.
• We design and implement analytics-optimised data models that maintain high levels of data quality and integrity.
• We provide technical support to end users and resolve technical issues.
• We migrate data from existing systems into the platform.
• We monitor platform performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement optimisations.
• We provide training and support to end users so they can use the platform effectively and extract maximum value from it.
• We stay up to date with developments in the data analytics and business intelligence industries and keep the platform aligned with current standards and best practices.
