Senior Front End Developer

Salary: £58,000 - 98,000 per year

Requirements:

• Strong experience building production React applications with TypeScript.
• Demonstrable experience with Next.js, including SSR, SSG, App Router, API routes and middleware.
• Experience integrating with headless CMS platforms such as Directus, Contentful, Strapi, Sanity or similar.
• Confidence working with GraphQL and/or RESTful APIs.
• A strong testing discipline, including unit, integration and end-to-end testing.
• Experience leading or mentoring other frontend engineers and contributing to technical direction.
• A self-starting approach, able to make sound technical decisions independently and communicate them clearly.
• Active use of AI coding assistants such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot or Cursor in professional work, and enthusiasm for AI-accelerated engineering.

Responsibilities:

• Own the frontend technical direction across the Shared space, making architectural and implementation decisions with autonomy and aligning with wider Commercial Tech standards.
• Lead the delivery of features and products using Next.js, TypeScript and headless CMS from technical planning through to production deployment and support.
• Contribute to and consume shared component libraries, design tokens and cross-team packages that serve the wider Commercial Tech estate.
• Champion AI-assisted development practices, using tools such as Claude Code to accelerate delivery, generate tests, scaffold components and enable cross-discipline contribution.
• Work closely with product, design and engineering teams to ensure technical feasibility and alignment.
• Mentor mid-level and junior engineers through pairing, code reviews and knowledge sharing.
• Support the Frontend Tech Lead in setting and maintaining coding standards, governance and architectural direction across the frontend landscape.
• Take ownership of the Shared frontend estate, understanding the products, codebases, deployment pipelines and roadmap.
• Deliver meaningful features or improvements while establishing technical approach and standards.
• Build strong relationships with product managers, backend engineers and designers to align on priorities and delivery.
• Contribute to shared packages and component library decisions alongside the wider frontend team.
• Help advance AI-assisted development practices and tooling adoption across the frontend function.
