Senior Software Engineer

Salary: £61,000 - 101,000 per year

Requirements:

• Expert-level knowledge of at least one object-oriented programming language (C#, Java, JS, Kotlin, Python, PHP, Golang, C++)
• Flexibility to work across all areas of the service stack, including front-end, back-end, and infrastructure
• Strong understanding of good software design principles, including information hiding, abstraction, module design, cohesion, and coupling
• Strong software architecture knowledge, including architectural patterns and how to apply them to highly scalable, fault-tolerant, observable microservices and systems
• Detailed knowledge of testing methodology (TDD) and designing high-quality testing suites resilient to implementation changes
• Experience with source control, continuous integration, pipeline design, containerised workloads, and infrastructure as code
• Experience with messaging and asynchronous communication technologies (RabbitMQ, Pulsar)
• Understanding of data structures, databases, and caching technologies
• Ability to bring clarity to complex domains, develop a deep understanding quickly, and challenge unclear requirements
• Experience leading conversations that drive alignment and uncover edge cases
• Experience mentoring engineers both within and outside the immediate team
• Excellent spoken and written English
• Curiosity and a strong desire to learn and improve
• Strong social skills and the ability to act as a facilitator while balancing support for others with individual contributions
• Time management and asynchronous communication skills relevant to a remote-first engineering organization
• Enthusiasm and ability to work collaboratively within a team

• Knowledge of Kubernetes clusters is advantageous
• Experience building cloud-native applications on AWS is advantageous
• Front-end web technology knowledge (React, shadcn) is advantageous

• Mathematical aptitude, particularly statistics, is advantageous
• Data engineering skills are advantageous
• Experience building production-grade software with Agentic AI is advantageous

Responsibilities:

• Join a high-performing team within our Betting division to help deliver technical and product-focused initiatives
• Build and scale our Sportsbook and Risk Management products
• Work on innovative products such as our Advanced Risk capabilities to improve operator profitability, reduce volatility, and improve customer experience
• Collaborate within a multi-disciplinary Agile team of Software Engineers, Data Scientists, QA Engineers, and a Product Manager
• Work closely with the principles of continuous delivery and empowered, high-performing teams
• Operate within our squad model, maintaining strong ownership of the team domain while contributing across multiple products
• Tackle hard problems with smart solutions and deliver high-calibre code with an autonomous, performance-focused approach
• Build highly distributed, real-time, dynamically scaling systems using modern CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure
• Innovate, architect, deliver, and maintain an industry-revolutionising product
• Lead execution of multi-sprint features or systems with measurable business impact
• Apply pragmatic problem-solving, Agile delivery, and continuous improvement principles
• Use a data-driven, evidence-based mindset and support continuous experimentation and validation
