Lead Engineer
Job Description
Salary: £43,000 - 43,000 per year
Requirements:- We are looking for a highly self-motivated, customer-focused professional with excellent communication skills.
- You will have expert-level Windows desktop and server troubleshooting experience.
- You will have extensive experience with Microsoft 365 administration and troubleshooting, including hybrid environments.
- You will have server management experience, including Hyper-V, backups, and hardware.
- You will understand how a whole site fits together, from internet connection to routers, switches, and servers, and use this knowledge to diagnose faults correctly.
- You will have advanced networking knowledge, including IPv4, VLANs, NAT, proxy, and filtering.
- You will have VDI experience, including Microsoft RDS environments.
- You will have strong PowerShell skills, including using cmdlets and writing and maintaining scripts.
- You will have proven experience acting as an escalation point, with the ability to mentor and guide other engineers.
- You must have a full driving licence and your own car or van.
- You must be willing to travel, primarily in the North East.
- You will have a well-rounded skillset and the desire to learn more and improve daily.
- Minimum of 3 years professional experience in a similar senior IT role.
- Due to the nature of the role, a full enhanced DBS will be carried out.
- Act as the senior escalation point for support queries and take ownership of complex issues through to resolution.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose technical issues primarily remotely, but also onsite as required.
- Work alongside the Support Team Leader to manage the support queue and the day-to-day workload of the support team.
- Manage and troubleshoot IT infrastructure, including servers, switches, access points, CCTV, AV, telephony, and computers.
- Mentor and develop junior engineers, share knowledge, and document fixes to benefit the wider team.
- Carry out installation work such as structured cabling, Wi-Fi, CCTV, and more.
- Deliver project work for clients, from planning and scoping through to implementation and handover.
- Provide regular updates to the Technical Services Manager on escalations and project progress.
