SQL DBA

Salary: £62,000 - 102,000 per year

Requirements:

• A good working knowledge of SQL, particularly Microsoft SQL Server 2012 to 2019
• Previous experience working with Microsoft SQL Server, particularly Microsoft SQL Server 2012 to 2019
• Knowledge of SSRS, SSIS and SSAS and how they are used
• Working knowledge of database backups, using various backup techniques and methodologies
• An understanding of security and permissions best practices
• A working knowledge of ETL best practices and other large data movements
• Experience debugging database-related problems
• Experience using stored procedures written in T-SQL
• A working knowledge of database administration methodologies and techniques
• Understanding of logical and physical database design principles
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server clustering, availability groups and disaster recovery, including Always On and mirroring
• Some experience or knowledge of working in a cloud computing environment, particularly Microsoft Azure
• Proficiency in one or more database scripting languages such as PowerShell or Python
• Database design and implementation skills
• Experience migrating, patching and upgrading databases across servers and/or instances
• Exposure to or use of PL/SQL
• Exposure to Oracle RDBMS systems
• Exposure to other enterprise RDBMS systems

Responsibilities:

• Provide database support for development, testing and production environments
• Monitor and analyse all aspects of database utilisation to identify and resolve performance issues, capacity planning needs and efficiency improvements
• Identify and troubleshoot issues around performance, accessibility, availability and operability, escalating and communicating these when necessary
• Resolve application and query-based performance issues
• Install, configure, maintain, upgrade, back up and recover DBMS software
• Code, edit and install stored procedures and functions for accessing, maintaining and populating databases
• Create scripts to automate database management operations
• Implement and administer security controls, privileges and permissions around data and databases
