Senior Machine Learning Scientist

Salary: £62,000 - 102,000 per year

Requirements:

• Broad applied machine learning knowledge
• 3-5 years of applied ML experience
• Practical statistics knowledge, including experiment design and dealing with confounding factors
• Intermediate programming skills
• Strong communication skills, both within engineering teams and across disciplines
• Comfort with ambiguity
• Advanced education in machine learning or a related field, such as an MSc
• Scientific thinking skills
• Bonus: track record of shipping ML products
• Bonus: PhD or other experience in a research environment
• Bonus: deep experience in an applicable ML area such as NLP, deep learning, Bayesian methods, reinforcement learning, or clustering
• Bonus: strong statistics or math background

Responsibilities:

• Identify areas where machine learning can create value for our customers
• Identify the right ML framing of product problems
• Work with teammates and Product and Design stakeholders
• Conduct exploratory data analysis and research
• Deeply understand the problem area
• Research and identify the right algorithms and tools
• Be pragmatic while innovating at the cutting edge when needed
• Perform offline evaluation to gather evidence that an algorithm will work
• Work with engineers to bring prototypes to production
• Plan, measure, and share learnings to inform iteration
• Partner deeply with the rest of the team and others to build excellent ML products
