Golang Developer

Salary: £70,000 - 70,000 per year

Requirements:

• We require 3+ years of commercial Go development experience in a production environment.
• We require solid experience with distributed systems and concurrency.
• We require experience with message brokers or event-driven architecture, such as NATS, Kafka, or RabbitMQ.
• We require comfort working close to the network layer rather than only HTTP and JSON.
• We require PostgreSQL and cloud infrastructure experience, ideally on AWS.
• We require the right to work in the UK, as sponsorship is not available.
• We require the ability to work onsite in Kings Hill, Kent, 2 days per week.
• We consider IoT, telematics, fleet tracking, or connected device platform experience desirable.
• We consider GNSS, GPS, or RTK positioning experience desirable.
• We consider binary wire protocol experience, including TLV framing, checksums, and endianness, desirable.
• We consider geospatial experience, such as PostGIS, geohashing, H3, or similar, desirable.
• We consider Kubernetes and Terraform experience desirable.
• We consider actor model concurrency experience, including Ergo, Erlang, or OTP, desirable.
• We consider experience mentoring or leading other engineers desirable.

Responsibilities:

• We build and maintain Go services across our platform.
• We work on IoT device integration and binary protocol parsing.
• We handle GNSS, GPS, and RTK positioning data end to end.
• We design and support event-driven flows using NATS.
• We build geospatial processing at volume, including geofencing, spatial queries, and location data handling.
• We work with actor model concurrency using the Ergo framework.
• We own deployment and infrastructure across AWS, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
• We work directly with our CTO on architecture and technical direction.

We are a long-established technology and telecommunications business in Kent with our own core network and in-house software development. Our SaaS geolocation and workforce safety platform is used across construction, utilities, transport, aviation, and the public sector to track people and assets on live operational sites and alert workers when they move into hazardous areas. This is safety-relevant software where the data path genuinely matters, not reporting dashboards. We have been operating since 2008, we are profitable and backed, and our small engineering team gives the person who joins real influence over how things are built. This is a full-time hybrid role based in Kings Hill, West Malling, with 2 days onsite and 3 days from home.
