Lead Data Scientist - Holbeck

Salary: £100,000 - 100,000 per year

Requirements:

• Significant experience delivering data science projects within a commercial environment and a proven track record of creating value through machine learning and advanced analytics
• A strong statistical or highly numerate academic background
• Advanced skills in Python and SQL
• Experience developing, deploying and maintaining predictive and machine learning models in production environments
• Experience leading and mentoring Data Scientists within a high-performing team
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and engage colleagues at all levels
• Experience working within Agile delivery frameworks and contributing to sprint planning and project delivery
• An appreciation of data governance principles and data quality management
• The ability to present complex information through clear and compelling data visualisations, ideally using Tableau
• Experience of cloud-based data science technologies, ideally including AWS SageMaker, AWS Bedrock and Snowflake, would be highly desirable
• A passion for continuous learning and staying up to date with emerging data science tools, technologies and practices

Responsibilities:

• Lead a team of Data Scientists and deliver innovative data science solutions that drive commercial value across our business
• Work closely with stakeholders across the organisation to identify opportunities where data science can enhance decision-making, optimise business processes and unlock new revenue opportunities
• Lead projects from concept through to production, applying machine learning, statistical modelling and advanced analytics to solve complex business challenges
• Lead, coach and develop a team of Data Scientists, supporting their technical and professional growth
• Plan and deliver data science initiatives using Agile ways of working, including sprint planning and progress reporting
• Develop, deploy and monitor machine learning models and analytical solutions in a production environment
• Communicate complex analytical findings clearly and confidently to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Identify opportunities to improve data quality, governance and the efficient use of data across its lifecycle
• Collaborate with teams across our business to maximise the value delivered through data and analytics
• Help shape the future direction of Data Science within our company by keeping abreast of emerging technologies, tools and methodologies
