Senior Systems Engineer - Secure Digital Platform

Requirements:

• Experience within defence, aerospace, MOD, government, or other secure environments
• Experience supporting Windows Server and/or Linux platforms
• Understanding of cloud technologies, ideally Microsoft Azure
• Knowledge of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and firewalls
• Exposure to VMware, Hyper-V, Kubernetes, OpenShift, or container technologies
• Interest in automation, DevOps practices, and modern platform engineering
• Active SC Clearance is required

Responsibilities:

• Support secure cloud and on-premises infrastructure environments
• Assist with Microsoft Azure administration and cloud platform operations
• Maintain Windows Server and Linux environments
• Support virtualisation platforms and enterprise hosting solutions
• Work with Kubernetes and OpenShift container platforms
• Monitor system performance, availability, and resilience
• Support incident management, troubleshooting, and service improvements
• Contribute to automation and Infrastructure-as-Code initiatives using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or PowerShell
• Support secure infrastructure changes, documentation, and operational processes

We are supporting a defence client on the Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP), a landmark international defence initiative developing the future combat air system. We are looking for a Systems Engineer to join our Secure Digital Platform (SDP) team on a 12-month contract based in Reading with a hybrid working pattern of three days per week on site.
