Database Administrator

Salary: £26,000 - 60,000 per year

Requirements:

• We need knowledge of relational database design fundamentals.
• We need knowledge of database components and capabilities.
• We need an understanding of continuity management, including backups, incident management, problem management, change management and capacity management.
• We need knowledge of high availability and disaster recovery.
• We need knowledge of database best practices.
• We need breadth of experience in production database installation, support and administration.
• We need experience with PostgreSQL 15.
• We need a service-driven approach and the ability to find viable solutions to issues.

Responsibilities:

• We provide comprehensive support for the build, maintenance, monitoring and improvement of in-house bespoke and third-party PostgreSQL server solutions.
• We support and maintain our PostgreSQL estate in a cloud environment.
• We take a proactive role in projects, providing PostgreSQL expertise to implement solutions that meet company and industry standards and best practices.
• We support the business through its move from an on-premise SQL Server environment to PostgreSQL in the cloud.
• We ensure optimal database performance through proactive monitoring, analysis, tuning and optimisation.
• We maintain database security in line with legislation and internal policies.
• We work with our IT team to establish robust business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
• We participate in the annual disaster recovery test.
