Solution Architect

Salary: £80,000 - 80,000 per year

Requirements:

• Significant, hands-on solution architecture experience across complex, multi-system environments
• Ability to step into technology you have not used before rather than relying on deep prior expertise in every system
• Strong integration and data architecture knowledge
• Solid technical governance experience
• Confident communication skills to work with business stakeholders, suppliers and third parties
• Comfortable presenting technical trade-offs in commercial and business terms to senior stakeholders
• Experience across distribution, warehousing or digital sales environments is preferred
• Exposure to platforms such as Dynamics 365, Sage or NetSuite would be beneficial
• Background in bespoke or legacy technologies such as C#, Delphi or COBOL would be advantageous, though not essential
• A relevant degree or equivalent experience is expected
• An architecture certification such as TOGAF would be a plus

Responsibilities:

• Provide architectural thinking and governance across a broad portfolio of change initiatives
• Help keep initiatives resilient and aligned with a future Group ERP and operating model
• Move between modern platforms and long-standing bespoke systems as required by the work
• Break down complex problems clearly for senior stakeholders and the transformation director
• Translate technical trade-offs into commercial and business terms
• Work closely with IT leadership, business stakeholders, suppliers and third parties
• Support the wider group with occasional travel
• Contribute to technology decisions that are pivotal to the organisations future

We are a well-established group supplying products and services into professional and healthcare-adjacent markets. This is a fixed-term PAYE Solutions Architect role based in Witham, Essex, working in a hybrid arrangement with ideally three days a week on site and some flexibility. The contract runs to 30 June 2027, with a genuine expectation that it could become permanent, though this is not guaranteed.
