Requirements:

• Java Core (version 8+)
• Spring Boot and Spring Framework, with good knowledge of developing in Spring with Hibernate
• Good knowledge of developing REST within HTTPS
• Experience of developing within a microservice architecture
• Web services using RESTful APIs
• Experience with distributed systems
• Knowledge and use of software design patterns
• Experience with agile development processes
• Experience with CI/CD delivery techniques
• Source code management experience using GIT
• Experience using issue tracking systems such as Jira
• UML/SysML experience using Enterprise Architect or similar
• Ability to self-motivate and work well within a team environment
• Ability to promote innovation in self and others
• Ability to interact with internal and external stakeholders in a confident and professional manner

Responsibilities:

• Join our 7-member scrum team as part of a wider programme to deliver a management system for a new satellite
• Contribute to all stages of the software development lifecycle, including design, development and test
• Use UML in the design process and Java technologies in development
• Develop code within an agile environment using scrum
• Work with the team to design, implement and test features for a new product development
• Estimate tasks in accordance with sprint planning

We are supporting one of the industry leaders in Aviation with the search for a Software Developer. This is a 12-month contract role, likely to be extended, based in Portsmouth with a hybrid working model requiring around 3 days per week on site. The role sits within a collaborative team environment supporting a new satellite programme, and automated testing is a critical part of the project.
