Responsibilities:
  • We lead and manage IT infrastructure work and resource demands, supplying necessary resources for new projects and work requests, and ensuring solutions align with our applications strategy.
  • We consult with IT leadership and provide high-level advice on the strategic direction and priorities for the infrastructure function that underpins our IT estate.
  • We handle strategic planning, day-to-day operations, delivery of new services and solutions, and capacity planning to ensure our IT infrastructure meets current and future organisational needs.
  • We participate in incident response, diagnose and resolve platform-related issues, and implement preventative measures to minimise downtime.
  • We undertake structure planning to ensure sufficient system capacity, timely renewal plans for obsolete or at-risk technologies, and that SLAs are met or exceeded.
  • We resolve complex technical issues and provide senior technical leadership in response to performance bottlenecks in the platform infrastructure and applications.
  • We communicate platform updates, recommendations, and roadmap plans to stakeholders, including leadership, product managers, and other teams.
  • We actively manage vendor relationships, acting as the liaison between the business, IT senior management, and key vendors.
  • We provide technical leadership, mentoring, and promote a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability within our platform engineering team.
  • We manage appropriate contracts and monitor the performance of third-party contractors.
  • We manage internal budgets.
  • We manage teams responsible for developing and maintaining the significant estate of IT infrastructure that underpins our IT services.
  • We promote good culture and behaviours personally and across the team in line with our risk framework.
  • We identify, assess, manage, and report risks, taking proactive personal responsibility for doing the right thing in compliance with regulatory requirements and our frameworks and policies.
  • We support the bank in meeting its business, legal, regulatory, and stakeholder obligations in respect of Financial Crime Compliance, including identifying, deterring, detecting, and disrupting money laundering, sanctions non-compliance, terrorist financing, bribery, corruption, and tax evasion risks arising from our activities.

This Senior Platform Engineer role is based in Milton Keynes or Glasgow within our Chief Information & Resilience Office. We offer a salary of 80,000 to 120,000 per annum depending on experience, 30 days holiday plus bank holidays rising to 31 days after 5 years, a 6,000 car allowance, company-funded private medical insurance, death-in-service and income protection cover, share plans, product discounts, wellbeing support, enhanced family leave, volunteering opportunities, and global growth opportunities. We work in a site-based hybrid pattern with at least 12 office days per month, and applicants must have the right to work in the UK.
