Senior Fullstack Engineer - NestJS | Vue

Salary: £60,000 - 72,000 per year

Requirements:

• NestJS and TypeScript expertise in production, including modules, dependency injection, and testing.
• Vue.js experience with Vue 3 and the Composition API, including component design and state management.
• GraphQL schema design experience, including knowing when not to use it.
• Prisma and relational data modelling experience, including migrations, indexes, and query cost awareness.
• Security as a working habit, including authentication and authorisation, tenant isolation, the OWASP Top 10, secret handling, and validation at the trust boundary.
• Strong architecture judgement, with the ability to defend decisions and change them when evidence changes.
• Experience using AI-assisted development with Claude Code or an equivalent agentic CLI, with the ability to review, test, and understand generated code.
• Bonus experience in HR tech, ATS, recruitment, multi-tenant SaaS, AWS, or working alongside an in-house engineering team.

Responsibilities:

• Take our new ClearHR platform from scoping to a working product across backend, frontend, and the architecture between them.
• Work directly with our CTO on architecture, technology choices, and security.
• Deliver Phase 0 alignment in the first 2-3 weeks, including a proposed architecture, data model, security model, CI with tests, and one end-to-end vertical slice.
• Own delivery through the build phase, shipping, reviewing, and documenting the work.
• Record technical decisions so they are not revisited from memory later.
• Ensure tests ship with the code.
• Complete security review before anything touching auth, data access, or secrets goes live.
• Participate in a one-hour weekly review with our CTO.
• Use AI-assisted development tools daily and ensure any generated code is understood and tested before shipping.

We are developing ClearHR, a HR case management platform for HR teams and managers to handle sensitive employee matters in a structured, policy-led, and auditable way. We already have a detailed product specification and a working prototype, so the work is about rebuilding and hardening an existing concept into a production-ready product with secure multi-tenant architecture, appropriate permissions and audit trails, tested data handling, production infrastructure, monitoring, documentation, and enough quality assurance to safely onboard real customers. This is a freelance contractor engagement, invoiced monthly plus VAT, with a budget of around €5,000 plus VAT per month. The role is fully remote, with Spain strongly preferred because our CTO and development team are based in Jaen, though we will consider any European time zone within +0 to 2 hours, as well as the UK. The initial commitment is full time for 3 months, with an expectation that it will run to 6 months and potentially beyond. We use the same stack as our established ATS platform: NestJS, TypeScript, Vue.js, Prisma, GraphQL preferred, and PostgreSQL.
